Emotions are Qi

And Qi is what moves everything

That which animates life is called Qi. It is what forms and moves everything. It is like the wind — you may not see it, but you feel it. It circulates the blood in your body. It powers your muscles to move. It digests your food. Qi is our Life Force.

Every single emotion influences the way Qi moves within our physical bodies. When I ask a room “where do you feel your feelings?”, 99% of the time people point somewhere inside the body — the heart, the chest, the gut. Our emotions are major contributors to the quality and direction of our Qi.

It’s all about that Qi

The seven emotions are the main cause of internal disease.

Every emotion must go through its natural expression. Having intense emotions for an appropriate amount of time is a healthy experience. But when emotions are suppressed, ignored, denied, or very intense for months and years, Qi flow is severely disrupted from its natural rhythm.

Damage and dis-ease result when an intense emotion becomes chronic — drunk with rage, crippled by fear, seething with resentment.

“I know that the hundred diseases are generated by the Qi.

When one is angry, then the Qi rises.
When one is joyous, then the Qi relaxes.
When one is sad, then the Qi dissipates.
When one is in fear, then the Qi moves down.
When one is frightened, then the Qi is in disorder.
When one is exhausted, then the Qi is wasted.
When one is pensive, then the Qi lumps together.”

The Su Wen (an ancient Chinese medical text)

No matter the disharmony, there is an equal and opposite frequency that can neutralize it.

When there is a knotting of Qi, we unwind and disperse it. When there is excess rise, we bring it down. When there is sinking, we lift it up. When Qi dissolves, we tonify and strengthen. When movement is turbulent, we smooth and calm it. When Qi scatters, we gather it. When it is blocked, we release it.

The problem is not whether we can change, it is a matter of will. We become accustomed to the same feelings, and they become habitual — the familiarity of being anxious or angry provides a kind of certainty. Instead of a monochromatic emotional life, I encourage you to taste the rainbow of emotions available to us as humans.

This work matters most for the people who feel everything.

Are you an empath?

Empaths feel everything

Only about 1 to 2% of the population would be categorized as an empath. A good 20% would be considered highly sensitive. Every empath is automatically a hypersensitive, but not all hypersensitives are empaths.

Inside an empath is stored many treasures and many gifts. As long as we know our operating system and how to work with it, how to fuel it properly, then it isn’t a constant unpleasant experience of chronic fatigue, exhaustion, overwhelm and confusion.

More antennas, more data

You are digesting two to ten times more information than everyone else

Empaths have more receptor sites — more antennas. That means more exposure to information, energies and frequencies. There is another sense organ present in us besides touch, taste, smell and sight.

Receiving that extra information takes a great deal of processing power, energetically and physically. That is why we see so much exhaustion in empaths. Our antennas also aren’t relegated to the local environment — that is one of the main differences between a hypersensitive and an empath.

Signs you are an empath

How many of these do you recognize?

Heightened five senses

Sound, smell, taste, touch — and visual disorder. Clutter is disruptive, not just untidy.

You absorb your surroundings

We absorb the energies of the objects around us as well as the energies of the people around us.

Crowds cost you

A lot more information to work through and process and digest. A few close friends over a thousand strangers.

Boundaries are hard

Empaths are quite permeable, and as a result there are a lot of issues with boundaries.

Strong intuition

When you pick up on the energies behind people’s words, you know more than what is spoken or unspoken.

Creativity and healing

Access to information that isn’t available to the majority of humanity — which makes great artists, creatives and healers.

You take on others’ pain

Others dump their emotional difficulties onto the empath. They feel relief; you are left to clean it up.

You need nature

Nature is where we cleanse and purify disharmonious energies. Nature is perfection. It is ordered.
