The Spirit of Wood Element is known as Hun. Also known as the Ethereal Soul, and resides in the Liver.
Hun gives us purpose, direction, a goal to strive for. When Hun is healthy, we hold a clear vision and map for our life. Our energy is directed properly and Qi flows smoothly.
When Hun is out of balance, there is no direction. Energy builds and backs up in the Liver, and expresses as frustration and irritability.
Have you ever had all this energy and desire to do something, ready to go, yet don’t know what to do? That is Hun not settled and congested.
Hun by nature is commanding, a go-getter, decisive, knows what it wants, and makes it happen. The Fire of Shen that comes from the Heart provides the initial inspiration, and then the Hun forms that inspiration into a working map for manifestation.
If you ever are in a season of wandering and no specific aim to direct your life, then I recommend loving on your Liver. Make sure he is not overloaded with toxins and sugar, as these things weaken the Liver. And be asleep from 1am-3am, which is the Liver’s time to restore itself.
Wood is the season of Spring. Whatever you do to support your Liver during its season will have greater results than any other season.
When you're in the last month of Spring, take advantage of this time and do a Liver detox/flush. And you just might get some clarity in your direction.
