Self-less vs. Self-more

Instead of Self-less, think Self-more.

Have you looked at the word “selfless”? It literally says less of self.

Less of me, less of you. Take away what is me, take away what is you.

Words have so much power, and we say many of them unconsciously because society uses them flippantly. And we wonder why we are lost, confused, don’t know our purpose in life.

Much of Western culture glorifies the “selfless” ways. We’ve given ourselves away to a point of extreme depletion, and wear a badge of honor for being invisible.

What if the narrative was instead: each of us taking care of ourselves, and not expecting others to clean up our messes?

What if we support one another instead of enabling one another?

I have a funny feeling that much of this “self-sacrifice” that happens has the stench of enabling and keeps people in their spirit level diseases.

Giving must come from compassion and inspiration, not out of obligation or to prove worthiness.

And true giving must also have true receiving. Force-feeding a gift is not a gift, especially when not asked for, not desired, and not appreciated.

Self-more, please!

Who are you? What are you about? What can you share with the human community?

How can we help you become more of you? More of you only adds to the richness of this human experience.

I don’t want to see less of you. I want to see more of you, my friend.
