We have been living in excess for a while, and many of us are aware of this.
Excess isn’t abundance. Excess is inviting and holding onto things/situations/persons that are beyond needs and wants. They are purely unnecessary.
In fact, in Chinese Medicine, excess is pathological. Excess food that cause phlegm, excess Qi that cause tension, excess fluids that cause edema. Excess cause stagnation of energy, stagnation in the spirit, and consequently dis-ease.
It is important to distinguish between Excess and Abundance.
Abundance means you have your needs, and you have your wants. Those never get compromised.
Abundance is more about appreciation, satisfaction, and a joy-filled presence. It isn’t only in reference to material items.
But, how many things are in your life that neither satisfying your needs nor your wants?
This is the classic definition of excess. Maybe memberships that you don’t use at all but still paying for, maybe clothes hanging in your closet that you will never wear again, using services that once satisfied a want but no longer giving you the joy it once did.
I am mentioning the importance of eliminating the excesses in your daily life, because it will help you manage your energy better in a time where the permeating stench of fear is moving through our planet.
You’ll be able to stave off some of these destabilizing energies when you are centered and strong, not carrying excess baggage, and your Qi is flowing smoothly.
Your energetic metabolism will be higher, and you can handle challenging seasons up ahead with a strong stomach fire.
