Feng Shui Principles: The Entryway

Feng Shui translates to “wind water.”

In Chinese culture, wind and water are associated with good health and fortune. This practice of arranging items in our environment allows us live in harmony with natural energy flow.

All the 5 Elements exist within your home, just as they do within your body and spirit.

Also remember, the practice of Feng Shui is a pillar of Chinese Medicine, and considered as important as the nutrition that you consume.

My hope is that you love on your home, just as you love on yourself. It bathes you in energy that is either supportive to your Qi or disruptive.

So let’s begin this series with.....

The Entryway

It is the mouth of your home and invites in energy and opportunities. It sets the tone for the entire home. It will open into either, the Career, Helpful People or Self-Cultivation.

We can agree that none of these areas don’t need to be blocked, whether the door is in the left, middle or right side of your home.

1. This area is important to keep clean and clutter-free because it is where Qi enters and nourishes the home. If it isn’t your main way of entering the house (such as garage or side door being your daily entrance), I recommend opening this door up once in a while to let fresh energy move in and circulate. It is still the formal main entrance. Clutter will block energy from entering. And this is where nourishing Qi enters as it is the mouth of the home.

2. Make the space inviting and pleasant to enter through. Decor, plants nice lighting. So the Qi that does enter bathes in pleasant, welcoming energy before it passes into the rest of the home. Make it distinct from the rest of the home with furniture, rugs, and art, especially if the door opens into a living room.

3. Fix anything broken. If there is a handle not working properly, door not closing properly, doorbell not working, lights not working, etc. Fix anything in the front that is broken, that way the Qi is not hindered when entering your home. If the entryway is filled with broken energy, it will set the tone for the home and your life as well.

Instead of overwhelming myself with the desire to up-level my entire home, I like break it down into sections.

Will you work on the entryway with me this upcoming month? We can all improve the quality of Qi entering our lives.

Share with us here the state of your entryway and what about it needs improving.
